Axel Cortés Cubero

Research Scientist / CryptoEconLab

Education

PhD in Theoretical Physics, 2014

The Graduate Center of the City University of New York

BS in Physics, 2009

University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus

Axel is interested in understanding the rich and nontrivial dynamics of cryptoeconomic networks. These networks involve complex interactions between many agents, unpredictable large scale events, as well as controlled incentives. He is also interested in understanding the overall emergent network behavior after a parameter change or an external force, which is a complex problem with many parallels in the areas of driven and active many-body systems.

Axel has several years of postdoctoral academic experience, focusing on statistical physics and quantum many-body systems as well as data science applications at the International School for Advanced Study in Trieste, Italy, Utrecht University, University of Amsterdam, and the University of Puerto Rico.

Areas of Expertise

Dynamics of complex systems and emergent phenomena, Statistical and stochastic mechanics
